In the Style of
For the second phase of the Seven Famous Photographers Assignment we had to recreate a photograph using the techniques of one photographer. This assignment was challenging at first because I was going to recreate a photograph by Annie Leibovitz but my model quit. I then recreated a picture by Ansel Adams but when I researched the name of the photo I realized that that was a photograph in the style of Ansel Adams' work. After all, I chose to recreate Ansel Adams' "The Tetons and the Snake River (1942)" photograph. To recreate the photograph I took a picture of the mountains when there were clouds on top of it. There are no rivers in Desert Hot Springs that's why my photograph does not include the Snake River. After editing my photo I used Adobe Photoshop to create a layout for my photo and Ansel Adams' photograph. Even though this assignment was challenging I really enjoyed recreating Ansel Adams' photo.
Ansel Adams was an american photographer and environmentalist. His style of photography reflects the simple aspects of nature. Most of the time he photographed natural landscapes using black and white film. He went to Harvard University. He was influenced by Paul Strand one of the first straight photographers. He specially loved to photograph Yosemite National Park. His work has been reproduced in calendars, books, and posters. Along with Fred Archer, he developed the Zone System as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust contrast to the final print.
